What do you think about religion? Any particular one, or just the subject in general! All religious (and non-religious) thoughts are welcome here.

But be nice. If anybody starts hatin' on any group of peoples I will report you myself.

Personally I think religion can be pretty cool and there are at least some goo lessons to be learned from any of them!

i think religion can be a good thing or bad thing, depending on how people use their religion, people that don't shove their religion on others and just pray to their god/alllah/buddah and mind their own business are good, the other religious types on the other hand are not so good.

I think that on an individual basis, religions can be very good or pretty bad, on a societal/neighborhood basis, they can be pretty good or very bad, and on a national basis, they can be neutral or very evil.

With that said, I have a bias towards religions that don't require recruiting, don't incite violence in the name of their G-d, and have absolutely nothing to do with nationalism. Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, and some others have come knocking on my door to tell me I'm going to Hell, and many Christians have witnessed to me, but I never get that from Buddhists. And they never kill in Buddha's name. I have found I agree with so much Buddhist philosophy that I might as well be an atheist Buddhist, since I don't believe in the whole samsara/nirvana/Buddha part.

With that said, I'm an atheist, and an existentialist of the humanist variety.

I don't believe in a God but I don't 100% dismiss the possibility of there having one... And even if there was one, imo, it wouldn't be like described by any religion.

Religion has some nice morals but that's the only good thing I can think of.

I'm a practicing Roman Catholic. I usually emphasize "practicing" because there are plenty of people that claim to be Catholic that don't do a damn thing.

Of course, I'm far far FAR from being a really good Catholic.  I'm just pointing out that there is a difference between saying you're Catholic and actually being Catholic.  :P

Personally, I like the basic teachings of Jesus Christ:

Love others as you would have them love you.
Judge not lest thee be judged.

It's only a belief. We are all Human

I'm a muslim, or like what makingmusic said, I am practicing Islam.
I think religion can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how it is uses. Ex: Using it to make the world place by entering community service, or using it to kill people.
