thank you very much for your quick reply !
WoW, where that number come from ? I expected lower ratio (this is the # of games/# of consoles, right ?) for 360 and bigger for DS !
At least, I learned something today

Those are the VGC numbers that combine the totals of Americas, Japan and "Others" sales (click on the weekly charts and scroll down to the tables just above the comments section)
The problem with them though is that a lot of games are missing, especially from "Others", but also a number from Americas, and Japan is pretty accurate but will still be missing some old games.
I can however give you the shipment figures for Wii, DS and PS3 (and a not quite correct one for the PSP... but I will give a vague estimate of what it is actually)
-----------------
This is from launch to the end of December 2008.
| console |
total software (shipped) |
attach ratio (compared to shipped consoles)
|
| Wii |
312,220,000 |
6.94 |
| DS |
533,380,000 |
5.54 |
| PS3 |
155,900,000 |
7.32 |
|
|
|
| PSP |
196,600,000 |

The PSP figure unfortunately includes some units twice because I am mixing two different reporting methods.... in addition, I have been told before that these include UMD movie discs, which although are probably not significant, they do take away some of the sales. A rough estimate for PSP total software then would be about 180,000,000. (giving an attach ratio of around 4
Microsoft doesn't give out software shipment data unfortunately, but it has given snippets of what the NPD attach ratio is... so the sold games attach ratio in the USA is around 8.1..... but it is worth noting that the attach ratio Worldwide will be lower, but also that generally the sold games ratio will be lower than comparing shipments.... so the WW attach ratio for X360 in shipment terms is probably between 8 and 9 games per system.
