Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: We don't make games to help 3d parties

Well something like that:

Nintendo's thinking is apparently that the company needs to open up its platforms, which are traditionally dominated by Nintendo games, to outside game developers and give them a chance.

"Until now there have been complaints that Nintendo makes too many games or Nintendo dictates too much leadership," Nintendo's Japanese PR stated. "Complaining that Nintendo makes too few games is a first, isn't it?"

A true, but rather tangy, response from Nintendo. Perhaps it's just the development cycle, and all of Nintendo's best and brights are busy making something spectacular. Perhaps.

Some 3d parties get the idea like Sega and Marvelous, but what about the others like Capcom and Konami Are they missing a oportunity from Nintendo?

Around the Network

nintendo should just start making shitty games so then 3rd parties look better huh.

but yea sega and marvelous are gonna get lucky they are having a bunch of good/great games coming out while nintendo has nothing really. If capcom and konami finally decide to hop over some wii games they will most likely be coming out when zelda and other huge nintendo games are finally coming out and they will just bitch and moan again how nothing but nintendo games sell

In defense of Nintendo, would you like some cheese with your whine?

The complains don't make sense. Is Nintendo supposed to make crappy games? Make no games? That way, people could make crap and sell?

Capcom is making games. Konami isn't doing much.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Wii 3rd party = HIT or MISS. That is basically the principle when it comes to third party support for the Wii.

Sega and Ubisoft seem to have no problems when it comes to making million sellers. Hell even Carnival Games sold tons over a long period of time and EA is stepping up their support for making decent original Wii games. The sooner companies learn to adapt to the Wii fanbase the better off they will be. Some game companies make one crappy game that doesn't sell millions and they just assume that the system just isn't for them.

Even if a game company only considers themselves to be hardcore(360/PS3 as some do) it wouldn't hurt them to make a decent low budget game and us the funding for the HD twins.

I might not be the biggest fan of the Wii but you would have to be mentally retarded to not support the Wii/DS. I love my DS btw ;)

3rd parties just need to step up and make some good games and if they don't sell well then they have a reason to gripe, but until then there is no reason to get mad at Nintendo

Capcom isn't making games, they are paying someone else to cut and paste old crap onto something arguably resembling what we know as "games".

Madworld shames all 3rd parties, SHAME

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

"Capcom isn't making games, they are paying someone else to cut and paste old crap onto something arguably resembling what we know as "games"."

And you haven't even actually seen the game to know it is like this, and you are ignoring that this alleged cutting and pasting is only with one game, not with other games that are original, so you are just blowing smoke out of you know where.

Capcom admitted they bet against the winning horse. Yet this doesn't mean they are going to announce everything they are planning on.

to me it seems like capcom is just putting arcade games on the Wii and they play like arcade games. Heck if it works, i always found arcade games a blast to play and would have loved to own a arcade at home, but they are super expensive. A party system like the Wii arcade style games like rail shooters and what not seem perfect.

sure some wish they could get a RE5, but still most of those poeple also are graphics whores anyway and wouldn't want it on Wii either. they just want something to complain about, or to bash the INFERIOR wii

Agree 100%. Chop Till you Drop could have been a great game if the went for an art style like Madworld but more color. Add interactive enviroments, make the mall bigger, new game modes, challages, built in medals(or something like it), and online. Keep the original story plus a bonus side story and this game could've been awsome.
