There are somethings that I didn't mind back in 1997 like dial up and disk swapping but it is no longer 1997.

Is there anything that was okay in 1997 that's still okay now?  Dual Shock controllers, for example.........

Well played, sir, well played.

I was okay with long installs and slow disc speeds in 1997, but it is no longer 1997.

Come on Megadude, get over yourself; when the system wars have come down to arguing whether getting up for 5 seconds versus a mandatory install, we have become petty indeed.

I love the installs actually I'll take the faster load times any day since I never worry about Hard Drive space because I don't need to buy a $150 Microsoft HD.

@d12 how many tiemes has your 360 died on you again?

How many times did your PS1&2 Die on you again?

Son of a bitch died twice!!  Almost as many times as my PS1 and my PS2 and twice as many times as my cousin's PS3!!  Why do you ask?

*edit*  I can see we're getting a little off topic.  I'm no fanboy.  It's just that when I see a console being bullied, I tend to defend it by putting down the bully's favorite console.  I think I'm equally hard on all of my children......because I love them.

Funny how games coming on multiple cds or dvds weren't a problem for the vast majority of people who owned a the PS1 and PS2 but suddenly it's a big deal now for some. Also it's funny how suddenly for some of those people technology is everything yet when the PS1 and PS2 were weaker but suddenly it's very important to them now.

Also as for the added content, it's a pipe dream since some companies are already having financial problems with current HD development. The thought of even a few more companies making HD games and spending a lot more on development to fill up a Blu-Ray disc is ridiculous.

Funny how crossing the Altantic on the Queen Mary was never a problem for the vast majority of people...yet for some crazy, undefined reason most people choose to fly today.  480i graphics weren't a 'problem' back in the PS1/2 days either...yet, again, people seem to be running HD a lot???! Why? Weird, huh?

Just because something wasn't a 'problem' back in the day doesn't mean there aren't better solutions available today.

Extra content can be as simple as developer interviews, character sketches, cut scenes that were dropped etc.  There isn't much 'development' needed to throw some extrat stuff on there.

Trying to convince me the Wii is a real adult game machine 'if you play it right' is like trying to convince me Tofu tastes great 'if you just cook it right'

I like to open a game, see 4 disks and the gameplay it foreshadows. Lost Odyssey is a great example, the disk art is done well and it made me anticipate playing it even more. I don't know if any of you are into turntablism, but I bet a lot of you would kill yourselves if you had to spin for two hours. You can turn on an mp3 player and let it play music for you all night, but what a drag... Don't any of you feel a sense of accomplishment when you change a disc? I understand that the journey is greater than the ends, but little reminders that your journey is progressing have presence as well.

Spending 20 seconds to switch disks to play for another 20 hours has never bothered me before.
