There were three Atelier games for PS2, Atelier Iris 1/2/3.
Looking at the various review compliation sites, the first one (Eternal Mana) has a 7.5 - 7.6 average, the second one (The Azoth of Destiny) has a 7.0 - 7.3 and the third one (Grand Phantasm) has a 6.0 - 6.3 average.
They're all 2D sprite games, so it would make sense that the review for the games got steadily worse as the technology in the games became more dated. The image you posted looks like they're taking the leap graphically. (Trusty Bell-ish as somebody pointed out)
