Forums - Sony - New JRPG announced: Atelier Ronora - only for PS3 (for now, at least)

I put the "for now at least" since it's not clear if there'll be more consoles, but the PS3 version is assured at least.

The latest issue of Japanese gaming mag Dengeki has unveiled a new Japanese RPG, exclusive to the PS3.  Called Atelier Rorona, it's the first next gen entry into the popular Atelier franchise.  While details on the title are slim at the moment, it retains the franchise's emphasis on crafting and synthesizing.

More details are set to come out later this month on March 27, again in the Dengeki PlayStation magazine.  Until then, check out the 4 page teaser here and here.

This opens an interesting question as to whether Rorona developer Gust's other popular RPG franchises, Ar Tonelico and Mana Khala, will also be headed to the PS3 shortly.

Never played the Atelier series, how are they?

Not sure, but I'm loving the art direction
Guess we'll find out more on the next few weeks

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

O RLY!?

Edit: It looks sort of Tales of-ish, which is not a good start for me since i loath tales games with a passion. If it had a Final Fantasy or Star Ocean type of art style then we would have a keeper. :D

reminds me of trusty bell.

meh...another 2D sprite JRPG. Let's see some true HD JRPG's please!!!

Then again I was never a fan of those 2D sprite JRPG's. It was hard for me to get into Disagea and Jeanne D'Arc.

I've heard of the series but never played them.

The game does look interesting at least.

and ive never heard of this series

ive played one of the ps2 iterations, was medicore. but more games is always good news.

There's nothing wrong with 2D sprites. I love 'em. I really enjoyed the Atelier Iris series. Lots of charm, awesome art, and the developers really put a lot of love into them.

Disclaimer: The series is colorful, charming, and full of occasional lame humor.

Can't wait to get details on this new title!
