I live in Minnesota.  For some of you, that'll be "nuff said". 

For the rest of you, here's how my day went: 

This morning, I was slightly surprised to find that there was snow on my car (parked outside) and yet it was raining.  Fair enough.  It keeps raining (that drizzly type of rain you get in the cold months that can go on all day) until early afternoon when it turns to snow.  For a while it seems indecisive on the question of rain or snow, but it settles on snow. 

I'm inside from 5:30 to 8:45, then I go outside and WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS JANUARY OR SOMETHING?  The wind is freezing my face off and also blowing snow into my face.  I tighten my hood until I can barely see but I can still feel it pretty bad.  Supposedly the temperature was about 6°F (-14°C) but it felt more like 10 or 20 below due to the wind.  I get to my car and of course the rainy snow from before has frozen all over the car, and the inside is frosted as well.  I always love it when I have to scrape BOTH sides of the glass. 

By the way, this isn't just ice on the windshield, this is HARDCORE ice on the windshield.  I don't scrape it off so much as do battle ... with a scraper.  By the time I'm done with the outside ice, the inside frost is easy pickings (I started the car and turned on the heat before starting). 

I thought at this point that aside from the inevitable icy roads I was home free, but no.  The snow was pretty fine and very easily blown, so in many places there was this stupid ground-hugging aerosolized stuff acting like a five-inch-thick pea soup fog.  I NEEDED to see the road so I knew whether I could expect decent traction!  Damn you, Nature! 

On a final note, I had assumed the slush from earlier would have frozen, but apparently not everywhere, judging by my driveway.  It had turned by then into a weird sort of semisolid that held for a moment and then collapsed like dense snow sometimes does underfoot, revealing the slushy layer underneath. 

Like I said, this is Minnesota, so I realize this kind of thing comes with the territory.  But today was really remarkable, so even if none of you care, here it is.

I would say sucks to be you, but I live about 2 hours north west of the cities (half way to Fargo), so yea... sucks to be me too.

Dang, I've never had ice on the inside of my windshield.
In Colorado, we do get some strange weather though. It's just all over the place. This winter, we've had everything from record lows (well below zero where I'm at) to near 80 degrees- all in the span of a month or so. Yesterday hit about 70 where I'm at, but there's snow all over today.

It's like Colorado can't decide what type of weather it likes best.

I think the stangest here was 35 below zero one day, and 40 degress 2 days later. That happened this year.

Raining...

In Fort Worth it raining and cold 37F, last week the temperature was in the 70s and 80s.
