Forums - Gaming - Any way to get a 16x10 ratio monitor to not chop off sides?

Greetings.  I have an issue with a monitor I picked up a few years ago to do next gen gaming.  It works generally well, but I have issues with the sides of the screen being chopped off.  The issue is the monitor is 16x10 (1440 by 900, 19w6).  On the monitor, it ends up filling the screen with an image, rather than creating a bar on the top and/or bottom so I display everything.  So, I get the sides chopped off.  Like, I run Sony Home, and the names on the upper left in world are chopped off some.  Genesis Collection ends up when at 720p, to also chop off sides to.  On the plus side, I do get up to 1080i, but 720p has chop issues.

Is there any way to get this resolved?

Around the Network

What the J man does with his 360 is to connect it to a HDTV through vga , change the resolutions to 1600x1080 then connect the 360 to his 1440x900 monitor and it fills the screen quite nicely.

The J man doesnt know what to do with a ps3 though and doesnt know how well it goes with vga or HDMI 2 DVI but either try the above or switch you monitor from wide screen to native and then switch it back and see if that helps.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

On the Xbox 360 just choose the closest resolution possible which is smaller than your monitors resolution.

On the PS3 I dunno... Not many options?

Tease.

Is there not a format option on the monitor?
