Forums - General - I get a gingivectomy tomorrow!

Hey everyone, I get to have a gingivectomy tomorrow because I have too much gum tissue. Its basically the removal of excess gum tissue (with a scalpel...ouch) to make the teeth look more "normal."

 

Has anybody else had this procedure? Do you know about it? How did it go, etc?

Ummm, I've had gum surgery where they took some of the gum from the roof of my mouth and sewed it onto the gums on my teeth. They were too low; apparently it's some genetic thing and it was a risk, so I had to have the surgery. I hate to say it, but it hurt so freaking bad, I was crying because of the pain.
Everything's fine now, but man, I hated that. I have heard that other people didn't think it hurt bad at all, so maybe it just depends on how well they did or just on the person.

I know this isn't quite what you're going to have, but it's similar so I just thought I'd share.

Thank you for sharing that. Its basically the opposite of what im going to have done. Hopefully the pain isn't bad, but I've been getting mixed answers off of the internet and from the 2 people I asked earlier today who have had what you had done.
