This isn't another bash thread, just an honest question. Can anyone explain this in a way that isn't overtly biased or just plain stupid?

This. After I played it on my brother's playstation, I was hooked and even decided to get Final Fantasy Legened 3 for gameboy. I've been hooked ever since..
It's tied for second best Final Fantasy game with FF4. Excellent story except for the craptastc ending.
@topic
It just the best RPG ever. It was revolutionary in 1997 and even today its still a great game. It has a very good story,great battle system,awsome characters,bosses and also phenomenal music.
All the things just fit together. So its simply the best.

couldn't have put it better myself ;)
As someone who played the SNES FF games first, the jump to 3D was pretty revolutionary.
Oh, and the Sephiroth music.
It was the last good Final Fantasy, before they anime'd them to the hilt.
Currently playing: Wii Fit / The Sims 3
