To the pc elitist games like rts and fps cannot ever be duplicated on consoles because of the inherent flaw in said machines control schemes, (though this has been proven wrong with games such as Herzog Zwei and Pikmin representing the rts genre and the Wii remote showing promise for fps control).

Call me a pc elitist if you want, but RTS will never be duplicated on consoles. So developers should even try.

I agree with non-gravity.  Just look at Halo Wars.  It's a good game, but it had to be simplified to work on the consoles.

Also, I was playing quake live (free online Quake III for those who don't know), and it reminded me of how the keyboard and mouse controls are superior to consoles.  Do you know why they made halo a meduim to slow speed FPS, because there is no way to make a fast FPS work on console controls.

With my computer, I can hook up an XBOX 360 controller.  That means I have the keyboard and mouse for FPS/RTS/Turn Based strategy and I have a console controller for fighting games and platforming.

Piracy is as bad as publishers whine about. The only high selling PC game these days that I see is WOW and you are forced to have an account. This is why people must buy the game.

That's what YOU see. There are many multi-millions sellers on PC, probably more than any console. Another thing is that PC games CAN'T be taken from retail since most sales are from digital distribution AND many games don't even get their money from traditional venues.

Live hasn't failed at all. The console gaming world will increase in size as this gen goes on. MS is the only entity who I believe right now has the aspiration to meld gaming between the PC experience and the console experience.

I'm talking about GFWL. GFWL failed terribly, and even recently the boss of GFW was sacked by Microsoft. There is still a chance for GFWL, but when you watch services like Steam and Gamersgate having Year-to-Year increase of 100%, and Impulse already being so great in just a short few months of it's lifetime....

MS already tried to monetize GFWL with subscriptions, but PC gamers will never pay subscriptions for what they already have on other, better services like Steam. Now that it's free, MS is taking ALOT of time to do anything with GFWL and looks like it's in a coma.

Maybe PC gamers are upset that they have to continually spend more money for upgrades and such just to outdo a console? and maybe because they dont get the vast variety of great games that are only on console?

PC gaming is cheaper than PS360 gaming. You'll save money from the games since they're much cheaper.

WHAT?! Don't even think of comparing Consoles' variety to PC's. PC CRUSHES consoles in terms of variety.

...and here enters the hostility. Do note the signature that subtly hints at PC gamers being of the aryan "master race" while console gamers are "lowly peasants" i.e. jews, gypsies, etc.

Why stop at Jews and gypsies? It's not like the Nazis would have stopped after wiping those out. ... negros, latinos, homos, indians, chinese, communists, japanese, mentally retarded, muslims, buddhists, orthodox christians, Elvis, belgiums ...

And with pc and ps3 I must be a collaborator then

Maybe the reason PC gamers are annoyed/hostile towards Console gamers is they have no idea what they are talking about.  Shio already covered the 1) There are no high selling games on the PC.  2) PC gaming costs too much.

The other arguments I have heard:

"Even if you build a gaming PC, it will get slow because of needed maintenance and viruses"

So if the PC was not meant for gaming you would not maintain it?  Computers with viruses need to have the viruses removed anyway and needs normal maintenance run such as defrag and disk cleanup.  The fact the PC is meant for gaming has nothing to do with this.

"It is too difficult and too expensive to repair a PC"

This is opposed to an XBOX360?  Many times when an XBOX360 breaks, you have no choice but to send it in.  I won't say anything bad about the PS3, since I have no experience with them malfunctioning.  It doesn't matter what breaks in my gaming PC, I can fix it myself.  That being said, I have had my PC for 3 years now and I haven't had anything significant break in it.

"Consoles are more confortible because it is on my TV"

It is true that sitting in a recliner is slightly more confortible.  However, there is nothing keeping you from hooking your PC to an HDTV (unless you don't have one).

The "I like to use my xx inch TV to play games" argument is odd, as you can hook your towers up to your tv.

The hostility definitely goes both ways. Your opening post is in a tone which implies console supporters are gems of impartiality, and free of bias.  This is certainly not true, especially when you see someone say gaming rigs cost incredible amounts of money and must be upgraded constantly.

This sums up my feelings. It's annoying to read an argument that PC gamers are hostile towards console gamers when the justifications for the argument are being hostile to PC gamers. It's like we're going in circles.

Excuse me while I play Team Fortress 2 on my PC and Killzone 2 on my PS3.

*gasp*

Don't you know that if you sit too close to your TV you get square eyes?

Of course. Why would you sit close to your tv?

Then why did you give the comparison? If you know that you have choice as to your playing vantage point. For vantage point gaming consoles are prime choice.

You've lost me here. OP says you like playing games on your big TV which is one of the reasons you prefers consoles, I state you can use your TV with your computer.  Squilliam implies that means you would have to sit close to your TV, I asked him why.

I can't see the point you are trying to make.

I agree with Shio completely about the horrible failure of Games for Windows Live. PC gamers won't pay for that, but xbox owners seem to eat up the idea of paying for a service that should be free.

On topic, name any relatively expensive consumer product, and you will find fanboys of one sort or another along with the ensuing hostility. We happen to be arguing about video game consoles/PCs, but it just as easily could be cars, cell phones, clothing, televisions, barbecues, etc. There's hostility because everyone who've bought into product A thinks they know better than people who've bought product B, and vice versa.

Of course it is cheaper.  A neat feature of PC gaming is piracy.  You don't ever have to pay for a gem in your life, right?  Just spend $1000+ and you are set for life, right?  So, that is $600 more than gaming with consoles, if not more.  So, after you pirate around 10 games, you are ALL SET and saving a bunch of money.  And why not talk Wii games?  Isn't it the same?  Gaming is cheaper on a PC, particularly factoring in piracy.  Well, you don't get the waggle.  But anything using a waggle controller isn't a real game, is it shio?  We all know REAL games that are REAL games use mouse and keyboard controls, right? So, technically, consoles don't play REAL games, because they don't use mouse and keyboard, right?

Another reason for PC hostility is that since the X-Box has come out Microsoft has been smart to bring games over from the PC world onto the Console. Now it's getting to the point where they wont even bother to bring out a PC version. That's gotta cause some resentment for PC gamers who spend tons of money on a rig only to find they don't get any support.
