Forums - Sony - Top 10 Reasons the PS3 is Failing

@Kasz

Taking a guess along with some logic and reasonable expectations, how many units do you think the 360 and PS3 will have sold by December 2012?

Somewhere around 50-60 million each I'd guess.

Don't see why that's relevant.

lol The 360 vs. PS3 argument is so full of cherry picking it isn't even funny. PS3 fans are pulling from every crevice to attempt to defend the PS3 regardless of its relevance or ignorance. The truth is is that 360 is turning a profit for Microsoft for the first time since they entered the business, so 360 is definitely NOT a failure from a profit standpoint. The PS3 on the other hand has lost so much money that it has negated a huge chuck of the profit that Sony earned from the prior most successful generations. That could be considered a failure, but it all depends on what goal you are referring to when speaking of failure. I didn't see anything in this topic referencing what the PS3 is a failure "of."

You also have to realize that the game isn't over. Teams always have a chance to come back in the last quarter. So technically the PS3 may have failed many times with many issues since launch but it is still not yet a failure and won't be till next generation begins. Some of the ways though that people are trying to defend the PS3 on issues that it has obviously failed on in the past, you would think it was their mother or something. haha. just crazy. Companies make bad decisions all the time, but they can also change their decisions or even make their bad decisions good ones! That is, if they are focused enough, creative enough, and open minded enough. :)

This thread has really shown people's fanboyism, quick tempers, and ignorance.

But i agree with you.

Truth does not fear investigation

honestly people, get a life. I dont care about these stupid articles, they said this 2-3 years ago and imo the ps3 seems to be doing fine and coming out with great games. i read this thread in the morning and thought how dumb you guys are and how dumb i was for reading this none sense when i could be reading something more brain teasing. Why am i posting? i'm a gamer and alllll of you give us a bad name, specially wii fanboys. sorry ps3 fanboys, but stop contradicting yourselfs and xbox fanboys stop being D@#k @$$es!

I have a ps3 and its perfect, i dotn care about any of you. SO if you hate it then thats your problem.

I say just enjoy what you have if its xbox, pc, ps3, wii or a cardboard box. Your not a sony employee so stop trying to recruit, your not a microsoft employee so stop trying to recruit.

Wii fanboys......stop feeding into mainstream crap.

everypost i say this....

i love nintendo, love nes, snes, 64 and the cude but i absolutly hate the wii and i'm very dissapointed with it....soooo sorry for the hate on it.

For refrence by the way... the years the PS1 launched in Japan and N. America

Sony did post a loss as a whole. Of somewhere aroudn 3 million dollars the first year and a similar amount the second year.

Do to currency exchanges losing a lot of money and the motion picture buisness having a big dropoff of profits.

The PS1 on the otherhand was reported to be doing well.

It's in the financial reports.

Anyone who tried to make a connection otherwise was just drawing a parlel that wasn't there.  The losses didn't come from that division.

yes, but it was still one of the bigger losts Sony had, but they still made profit on PlayStation later. Oh and PS3 is doing better than PS1 so i guess if PS1 was doing well, PS3 is doing AWSOME

ps3 lost lot of marketshare. its a failure,

And the 360 didnt lose marketshare at all?

Compare the old Xbox to the 360 on market share.

Then compare the PS2 after 3 years  to PS3 after 3 years on market share.

You'll have your answer

Dont change the subject. Who said anything about PS2 and Xbox? We are talking about Ps3 and 360. 360 lost marketshare a LOT when wii was launched, so there you go. PS3 lost marketshare and the 360 lost marketshare

And i am kinda sick of people comparing PS3 and PS2 with the Xbox and the 360? 360 outsold original xbox because xbox sold only about 25 million. its easy for 360 to outsell Xbox. PS2 on the other hand has sold 140 million, so its WAY harder for PS3 to beat PS2.

PS3's predecessor sold 140 million.

360's predecessor sold 25 million.

For which console will be easier to outsell its predecessor?

Good point.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Everybody knows that the PS3 will eventually outsell the 360
