Super Metroid. I would choose Ocarina, but its camera was annoying at times. Super Metroid had no flaws I can think of, it is the pinnacle of 2D gaming.
As to those people who think Metal Gear Solid 4 is the best game of all time. Listen to this: (lets see if I can embed it this time)

Id say Brawl just for everything it has in it

Miyamoto would be more like the Beatles.
Another thing about the MGS series: Since the gameplay is mediocre, I assume what most people like about it is the storyline. This is something I cannot understand and the reason I don't play JRPG's anymore is that games cannot have good storyline. If you want good storyline, you should pick up a book and read it. No game's story can compare to a book.
You ever notice that Zelda, Mario and Metroid games have all had simple storylines? Miyamoto realized that a game's focus should be on ...(wait for it)... gamplay. An elaborate storyline just takes budget away from parts of the game that needs the money.
for me the best game of all times is legend of the dragoon. that game is just epic. and everyone who has the chance to play it should play it.

thats a good point, but mgs4 love stems from other things to like the end of the series and all that jazz
also, you gotta admit stories that are big arent a "waste" a lot of them end up being really good
its also like the definitive game to love if youre a real gamer or something like that
i agree with u on the gameplay thing though
