Their score are quite high aren't they? sonic and the black knight 78 % while the avarage metacritic score is 56.

Odd, Metacritic has it at 56, while GamesRankings has it at 62.25. What's really strange is that they both use the same 4 reviews.

Nintendo Power 8

GameDaily 7

Gamervision 6

IGN 3.9

Metacritic uses weighting while gamerankings does not. Gamerankings just eliminates reviews it considers suspect. So that 39 from IGN weighs especially heavy on Sonic's metacritic score.

And to think people hold these measurements up as impartial. What arbitrary system do they use to decide which arbitrary score is more important?

What do you mean by "weighting"?

I did an average of the 4 scores and I obtained 6.225.

Metacritic deems IGN a more important source for reviews than other sites.

IGN might carry twice the "weight" as another site for instance, so compared to the other site it's almost like IGN has given out 2 scores (identical scores) that are counted seperately.

It is probably not only as extreme as 2* when it's IGN versus some site we have never heard of... but IGN is probably deemed 1.5* more important than most other review sites.

It is still a very stupid  collection of website opinion reviews though, and a useless metric for deeming a games quality.

it was ign's review that gave it that.

nintendo mags score falls in line with most reviews for the game.

decent

You should. Best JRPG on DS.

IGN's opinion becomes steadily marginalized, and Don King beats expectations?
