They're making another?? Sorry, but I just stopped watching after the second. Torture porn's not my thing. I figured we could let this thread slip into debates about said torture porn if you felt like it though hehe.

Anyway, don't mind me, I just felt like posting the official movie poster because it actually made me laugh.

Torture porn isn't my thing either, but that's not my problem with these movies. I've seen all three now, and the third manages to take itself more seriously and yet somehow be even more stupid than the second.   I got dragged to the third.

It was outrageously boring and felt as though it was teaching you some grand lesson about forgiveness.  Judging by the others in attendance I'm probably not their target audience -- I'm not one of those high school kiddos who like that sort of thing.

The Saw movies weren't bad but I could have swore they killed everyone off in the third one.

And as far as torture porn goes, whatever that is, the Saw movies don't have anything on Hostel and Hostel Part II.

I've only seen Hostel and Saw 2, i would say hostel is better but its more realistic and makes me not wanna go to the E-block. And I'm pretty sure atleast 2 more Saw movies can be funded off of what they have made over the past couple of years because the profit made because they are are so low budget.

the first saw is good. the second one is horrible on some mtv movie ****! but the 3rd one is good. i'd recommend the first and the third.

it's not really torture porn there is a very good under-lying story about what will people do to survive when challenged to the limit

Liked the first one, not my kind of move eather but it was well made, didn´t care for part two... will see part three soone but only because all my girl-friends love horror movies... and I have the strong shoulder they need :) I even had to watch hostel with them... man I hated that movie, I don´t mind violence but it needs motivation, like in a  War film or good horror movie, like by Hitchcock or Kubirck, current Horror or Slasher films don´t impress me at all, I need subtile horror like in Shining, the Birds or Psycho

I´m definitly not going to the movies when the poster says "It´s a trap" if Admiral Akbar says it´s a trap then it is a trap.

Oh and if I feel like watching snuff movies I´ll watch Passion of the Christ :) 

blegh hostel you got to be kidding me i hated that movie, right from the start where they showed Amsterdam. WTF, they don't speak german in Amsterdam and they certainly do not have hills . Making Amsterdam look like a slutty German village is not realistic.

Oh and I love horror movies...gory movies too.

It's just that, like TheBigFatJ said, it tries to be smart and send heavy lessons to the audience, and I think far too many viewers gobble it up.

It seems more like violence for the sake of violence. Which could work, but under the right circumstances.

Grindhouse, specifically Planet Terror, is just crazy violence for the heck of it, but it's meant as both a parody and homage to old grindhouse films where they made their movies uber-violent to draw people in. I loved Grindhouse, I did not like Saw as much or Hostel.

All of these movies are a joke compared to Cannibal Holocaust.

Also, the Guniea Pig series is way more gory - Flowers of Flesh and Blood in particular.

Planet terror is awesome best movie ive seen in awhile. it's much better then death prove (although that was a pretty good movie too, i liked the twist at the end, girl power hehe).
