This film is getting alot of negative interest and it does not deserve all of it.

After seeing the film and knowing little to nothing about the original material I approached it with a fairly open mind as to what to expect.

People comparing this film to Iron Man or Spider-man!  Are you F***ing serious?!

We need to celebrate that at least Zach Snyder was given a chance to realise the project and alot of work has gone into achieving that. 3hr runtime with ultra gore, violence and sex. (and a huge blue cock!)  Not you usual Hollywood production.

I enjoy the films leisurly pace most of the time.  Its usually well controlled and does a good job of filling in some of the back story and history of the characters and period.

Its refreshing to be able to sit down and absord information rather than having your ears and eyes battered with it.

So its not a perfect film.  Maybe a bit too slow for some, one problem for me was that the story does not progress very quickly it gets a bit stuck explaing things and people, but at the same time if it did not do that you would be lost.

So thats a very brief overview from me.  I think I will check out the original story before its DVD/Bluray release to see whats missing/changed.

I read the material and I saw your other thread. I think you and I will be on the same page about this one. I looks great. I was pretty worried about this movie until I saw that opening credits video. Thanks, dude!

Its not without it problems, I didn't list all my gripes. But I did like it a lot.

Do you think it matters whether you have read the original novel before you watch the film?

I haven't read it (though I've started now since I enjoyed the film so much) and my neighbour, who HAS read it, also really enjoyed the film.

Probably.

Having read the original material you will already have strong hopes and opinions of what will be in the film. As it is a graphic novel the look and feel of it has already determined so to change that would be a disaster.

Depends if you want to see an exact copy of the novel displayed on the screen or something thats takes the best or strongest elements.
