Forums - General - How you can help your environment and save energy. (Details inside)

I decided as an American living in a society where this country faces a huge economic crisis, we should help the environment. I have a list of things we can all do to make a difference and help not only my country but yours. I have a list of goals we must accomplish. These rules will go in effect by March 8, 2009.

Here are the following list of goals I wish to accomplish but I will need your HELP! Please encourage your family and friends to make a difference.

Energy & Environment

Step 1: Recycle and Cleaning up your Neighborhood

Go outside look all around. You are around nature! You breath fresh air. If you want to keep youy neighborhood and community clean, then remember to recycle. Don't just throw your trash anywhere throw your trash in the garbage. Another good idea would be to start up a recycle club in your school and get your friends and others in the school to throw their stuff in the garbage. A good idea would be to buy garbage cans that are labeled plastic, glass, and paper. If you already have a recycle club, then thats great. Just keep trying to get people to throw their food and drinks in the garbage.

Step 2: Turn your Electronic Devices off after using them

I know a lot of people here on vgchartz play video games. Turning off your console or handheld isn't the only way to save energy. Unplugging your electronic devices like video game consoles, chargers and lamps, could save twice as much energy.

A lot of people in the world are know for doing their homework with the light on. To save energy, trying finishing your homework assignments when there is broad daylight. If everybody can't do that, then thats okay. For those who can, try to make that a habit.

Thats all I have for now. I have more ideas and things we can do. I will give you more information on my cause next week.

Never been a big fan of the environment myself. Probably won't do any of this.

lol, if we're going to "Turn off surge protectors/Unplug everything not in use. Everything", might as well just flush once a day while we're at it.

As u can see, i waste WAY too much energy.

Awesome thread. A vegetarian or vegan diet helps to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emmisios, by not processing meat in oil/coal powered factories.

Not to sound like a jerk, but helping the environment is the oposite of what's needed to help the economy. (at least in the way you state in this thread)

Right now, the best way to help the economy, is to spend. These recommendations reduce spending.

If you want to help both the economy and the environment, go by a hybrid car, or replace all your light bulbs (the money saved on electricity won't be realized for a year or so.)

Do it in a way that cost money if you want to help the economy.

Eat less meat

And Healthy environment > Economy not that a healthy environment and a healthy economy can't go hand in hand but given the choice I'd choose the planet every time.
