Well considering how poorly SO4 sold this week, I'd say that in comparison to Star Ocean, RPGgamer is HUEG!!1

You mean by being one of the biggest debuts for a JRPG this generation? If that's considered poor then it's not saying much for a site that's dedicated to covering a genre that's supposedly selling poorly. Not that that has any bearing on Star Ocean since it transcends that pettiness.

79 after only 12 reviews after this is added in itll be at 77 bestcase scenerio and 76 worst. the others got 80s... it def isnt better like you paint it out to be

I finished the game and I didn't hear one bad music. I don't know what kind of music they like in their JRPGs, but this is the Star Ocean style, and if they don't like it, well screw them! o_O

Also, you get used to the voice acting. All JRPGs with voice acting are annoying anyways, unless they include japanese voices and subtitles. What's more annoying though are the mouths not matching, but that was expected. Remember when Square Enix said they wanted to release their games in Japan and the US approximately at the same time? Well, that's the result. It's still a very good one to be honest!

Also, you won't get lost in the story unless you know nothing about space, spaceships, warp speed, black holes (to some extent), the universe and other stuff like that.

Oh, and unnecessarily enormous areas is a Star Ocean staple, and it's quite a tri-Ace staple as well (see Infinite Undiscovery). Note that SO: The Last Hope is nothing like IU though!

 

One last thing, if they complain about long cutscenes... I wouldn't want them to play Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. I'm sure they would be crying! xD

Final Fantasy 12 and Kingdom Hearts 2 had great voice acting, in the english version. Maybe the great music and voiceacting makes these type of games superior RPG´s, considering someone here said RPGs usually have have bad or mediocre development in these two.

Maybe, but don't forget that Final Fantasy XII released seven months later in the US and Kingdom Hearts II three months later in the US.

I love to be able to play the game now, and to be honest, the voice acting is bearable. Even with the characters' animations, you can even consider it all part of the art style! The characters look a bit like dolls, and they move a bit like them too. Some people might say it even looks like Thunderbirds (that show was awesome)!

the only reason it debuted so high was because of first week japan. which will have no legs. so dont expect it to sell better than something like LO. LO also had alot of help from word of mouth since it was so highly praised. and from what ive seen and heard so4 isnt as good

What have you seen that wasn't good though? Heard, I can understand, but seen... I don't know. All the screenshots and trailers looked awesome.

game wise only thing i didnt like visually was the expressionless faces. i was talking more about reviews when i said see. there are 11 scores higher on LO than the highest so4 score so far. but like i hinted towards earlier 12 reviews isnt enough to judge yet.
