they should it isnt worth the extra 100 and in every E3 they add a bigger HDD so the pro may get the 120gb HDD

probably considering PS3 rumored price drop ms cuts elite's goes to a 60 gig pro at $250.00 and a arcade at $179.99 wth elite's in bundle form with a game.

now the PS3 with no bc is $300.00 and who knows maybe they go 120 gig on the pro and throw a 20 on the arcade so they actually eliminate the arcade?

2 sku's maybe $250 and $200 to compete with 2 80 gig sku's for sony a $300 and a $400 PS.

I remember reading when the Elite was first mentioned that it would be in limited supply, and available during certain times..

I think it would be a good idea..

Selling something to people that can not have when ever they want, just makes them want it more..

Look at the Wii last year and the year before..

I knew people that just have to have it because they saw how hard it was to get one..

If they are going to do this then they should replace the current Pro SKU with the Elite SKU at the current Pro price point. Then cut the Elite and not replace it with a higher spec model.

It could co-incide with a slight price drop on the Arcade SKU, but I still think they'll go for a Valhalla based "Slim/Lite" model before they cut the price again.

Discount it, and then re-launch the elite model, with the new chipset when it is released, and a bigger HDD. You're going to get cost savings on the newer design, so use it to get a bigger HDD space, and maybe a top quality M$ game...like Halo ODST. I'd get it, if it's out before ODST release date.

Rebranding the Elite may work... relaunching it as the first slim model with a solid state hdd would get many to jump on board... I know running installed games from a solid state hdd would be way faster than the normal hdd.

While I would love solid state loading times the price for those drives is exorbitant right now. It will be years before the SSDs are mass market price. 

Plus any HD-caching games such as Halo3 would slash the life expectancy of such a device.
