Well where are those people that thought the DLC would fail?

Well, here's one. I didn't expect that at all.

I've got the oven warming up.

I expected more than 2 millions, but it's still good.

So, you thought it was a GREAT move  by M$ when first announced, because I'm not sure who really exepcted 2 million this early...heck...I'm stunned at 1 million...in a month...with everything on the table for gamers.  2 million by the end of the year will mean $15 million over the reported cost...and with digital distribution...nice.

Here's another thing, M$ and Take-Two can release the game during the holiday season before the next DLC...with this DLC on the disc...boosting new 360 owners to get the game, and only have to get one DLC.  There are ALOT of companies out there looking at this and rubbing their palms together for future games on the xbox.

Picking up on your sarcasim there king of the world. Ubelievable sales for the dlc over 50 percent attach rate when it's all said and done.

no sarcasm. it failed to meet expectations that the hype indicated (also have no clue how you came up with 50% attach rate... if 6million copies were sold and 1 million dlc... it isnt50%)

What hype?  There were very few threads created about it, and in most a fair number of posters expressed no desire to get it.  How does that translate as hype?

If this is your way of getting back at people who said Killzone's sales underwhelmed you're not doing a very god job, and in fact just making yourself look childish.

oh wow your blind. this was suppose to be the 'defining factor' between 360 and ps3 versions. it was suppose to be the only way to get the 'complete experience' it was suppose to be a huge expansion with new areas maybe even a whole different city. it was suppose to be what GTAVC AND GTASA was to GTA3.

People were raising the possibility MS wouldn't get their money back on both DLC's combined.  Now it appears they will on the first one alone.

If you were going to try and take your anger at Killzone2's underwhelming performance out on 360 owner's, you should have picked a game that was less of an explosive success.

Whilst not likely, it is conceivable that this DLC will outsell Killzone 2, and the two DLC's combined certainly will.

@colonolstubbs

it didn't sell extra 360's though as many fans claimed it would

How do you know?

Many people probably bought an HD console over christmas for GTAIV, many of these would have been swayed by price and the DLC.

Sounds like their gamble paid off. I think this will make developers step up and take notice and possibly change the way they look at DLC. When there is good value to be had people will be more willing to purchase it, even at a more expensive price tag.

I really hope so, but I also hope that this won't lead to a trend of where developers release half-finished games and then throw out some high-quality DLC that should have been packaged in the game to begin with, but now consumers have to pay extra for it.

I'd like to see more of what they did with Tomb Raider Legends and Annaversery ed.... you could by the remake in two installments of 10 bucks a peice and when you finished with the chapter buy the second one if you really wanted to play more.

I think I smell something burning haha

on topic... I'm really surprised... and really happy for Take Two.  They have another revenue stream to work with and we may see more of this before the next game comes out... I mean outside of the two that have already been contracted.

There could be some interesting threads to be necroed. I am too lazy to do it though.

Did people really expect the DLC to fail? It's GTA ffs, I'd be surprised if it did anything aside from well.

I think some people did think it would fail...I'm not sure why, but they did.  Seems like M$ made a very wise decision to invest some upfront cash in the DLC to expand the potential of XBL, and it paid off bigtime here.  It will be interesting to see if M$ teams up with Take Two to push out a re-released GTA for the holiday season, kinda like some computer games do....like Civilization...with the expansion.  Repackage it and get some new 360 owners during the holidays to buy the game.

Rockstar should be quite upset by this, imagine if the DLC was on both consoles, then this article would read 4 million by the end of the year. And it probably would have sold even more GTA4 games.
