Forums - Microsoft - People are actually buying Halo Wars not knowing that it's a RTS

@ justinian: well, buying it off the name "halo" (or any other name) is rather hardcore. Hardcore fan.

Even if they don't know that HW is a RTS game  (which they might hate with a passion) and therefore face a big disappointment when they stick it in the x360?

I do understand what you are saying, don't get me wrong. This may be the defining reason why I will never be considered hardcore.

If a game is 300% crap I am not going to buy to it regardless of the how much I love name brand. That's just me. I know there are many who don't see it this way but the industry relies on people like that. Everyone is different and I respect that.

PS: I am not saying HW is crap. The 300% statement is generalized.

Hmm. I wonder how many people will be tricked into Halo3: ODST, thinking it is an RTS.

Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest. I bought it because I thought it was a JRPG, not a piece of shit crammed into an SNES cart.

I hear ya brotha! I bought the game thinking it'd be another Final Fantasy master piece, gawd what a waste of money and perhaps one of Square's biggest pile of crap ever created! But then again, any FF spin-off practically is (F13 Versus is next, mark my words PS fanboys)

What are you looking at, nerd?

i bought metal gear asid thinking it would play like metal gear solid

Can't they simply return it. I find this strange as x360 owners are usually (or like to think they are) hardcore and should be aware of it being a RTS.

If it was a wii game with a massive "casual" base then it would make more sense.

Console with $200 entry level SKU is far from being hardcore gamer only.

Day One PsP Purchase, I got SPIDERMAN with it...

I popped it in and to my dismay... it was not sand box like the console version...

I was upset to say the least.. I mean I loved SPIDERMAN so much, that I just had to play it everywhere I went..

I went back to Toys R Us and tried to return it, the guy said they can't returned/exchange none broken games..

I said Fine.. it's broken, won't get to the 3rd lvl.. He popped it into my PsP and around the second lvl he just gave up and said ok, I'll exchange it..

I think i got Twisted Metal... instead.. lol

In Australia we most of our retailers have a policy of

"If you aren't completely satisfied with your product, return it within 7 days for a refund"

I love this country sometimes

Now to abuse this to get free rentals :P

I think Gamestop's policy is:  If the game is unopened, you can return it.  If you opened it, you get the trade-in value.  I am sure many other stores in the US are the same.

Well there's your problem! A Mother buying her Child a Teen Rated Game! A Bit off-topic yes, but yeah. Bugs me none-the-less.

As for buying Halo Wars thinking it's a first person shooter. It's really up for the consumer to know what product they are buying. Honestly, is it so hard to find out things? Last I checked, there was something called the "Eee-Ter-Net" or something like that which allows users to get a tonne of infomation. Heck, if they don't have a connection? Look up a flyer, Call your local Gamestore, Ask a friend, do some research!

It's not that hard, even by looking at ONE screenshot. One can conclude that Halo Wars it NOT a RTS. There is no excuse for being that lazy.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?
