Forums - Microsoft - Letting First Party Studios go...Is Microsoft Planning Something BIG?

It would make the most sense that they would start cutting the fat when the shit hits the fan, and in this economy the shit hit the fan hard enough that the fan broke. Microsoft makes more money off it's OS and software than it ever will from it's gaming division. So it makes perfect sense to shitcan the gaming stuff to make sure that future plans with the bulk of thier business stay afloat. It's smart business.

If you owned a company that built and sold a product at great profit and another at a small profit when the global economy collapsed, which would you focus on?

I hope Microsoft purchases EA. ZOMG: Imagine the X360 sales by having all those EA titles were exclusive to X360.

Maybe Microsoft should buy Activision/ Infinity Ward, Capcom or even Rockstar. One of those developers making all their games exclusive would help X360 continue to beat PS3 in console sales and widen its lead over PS3.

Buying take 2 to make 360 exclusives would be a gigaton, though not very smart for the company itself imo.

They never owned Bizarre, and Bungie wanted out. The other stuff is clearly cost-cutting measures and refocusing from PC to console gaming, but whether they're cooking up something big or just belt-tightening, who knows?

i think 2K is at their peak right now(meaning that they went from good developers to very good developers/publishing company)so buying them requires a very very and i mean very big chunk of money, especially when you have GTA that made the biggest entertainment revenue in one day.

They have been hiring for their Halo Studios and Microsoft Game Studios.

Bioware and pandemic cost EA an insane amount of money, I think it was over $800 million or something along those lines. Purchasing EA would be in the billions, not too sure how people are expecting MS to purhase them especially when they would never make the money back.

Yes that is right, MS would NEVER make that money back.

It's funny read something like "Microsoft should buy Rockstar" or whatever xD!

Do you know how much money have they give to Rockstar? You know... Rockstar earns lot of money been multiplatform company I don't think it happens.

I doubt it's anything huge. I reeeeally can't see them purchasing EA, Rockstar, or Capcom, even for MS that's a lot of money.
