| Sharky54 said: I read somewhere sony said it sold about 130 million PS1s before they stopped selling it. Last major numbers showed the PS2 at 140 million. Even still 25 million more PS2s sold is good. I still think most PS1 owners went out and bought a PS2. N64 owners bought the gamecube, and Saturn owners bought the xbox after sega went to software. |
The PS1 sold 102.5 million.... when the PS2 released (in Japan) it was only at 73 million... and 80 million when the PS2 had been released in all 3 major regions.... it then took 4 years to sell the remainging 22 million.
And about your bolded part.... That was a mistaken quote by Sony, they claimed 140 million back in April 2008 when their fiscal reports said otherwise... they hadn't even made 140 million at the time. As of now... like I said in my first reply... the PS2 has shipped about 135 million.
