Yes...the total sales of the PS1 were 102.5 million.
The people buying the PS2 now are not (well not many of them) going to be buying the PS3 in the future. because in 3-4 years time when they want a new console the PS3 is still probably going to cost $200 at least, and also won't be particularly desirable because it will have remained the lower selling of the consoles through most of that time. It will do better than the GC did for sure (it is after all to pass the GC in sales in a month or so) but it is not the desirable console that the PS1 and 2 were... we can see that by looking at it's sales now.
