Forums - Gaming - Gamestop Stock Drops 13% Following Amazon Trade-In Announcement..

pffft. Gamestop doesn't have to worry. The majority of the people that would buy used games online already do at Ebay. Like me.

I bet it has a less than 3% dent on Gamestop's used revenue.

I have a videogame store by my house called Playntrade and it does the same shit that gamestop does at a fair price. They fix consoles for you, have a disc repair service and have plenty of clubs and tournaments.

good, maybe GS will have to offer decent trade-in prices now.

I doubt it, Amazon's prices seem just as bad if not worse.  Plus they probably won't have the deals GS has.  Not that I would trade in my games anyway, so it is a moot point.

Competition is good, but Gamestop has the serious edge right now. They deliver instant gratification, plus you get seriuos benefits in being an edge member...Gamespy has a used game program as well...and nobody talks about that...the benefit is that gamestop will offer more for trade-ins, and probably lower prices...

I just looked up Play N Trade stores near me, and the closest is in Tacoma. I'm not driving 50 miles south to go there.

The person who is REALLY in trouble by this move is Gamefly....imho. They are the "netflix" of games, but Amazon has the capacity to out-do them, with faster mailing service, and since they have such massive amounts of mail, they can get it done cheaper. They have shipping center around the world to handle the capacity...so it seems to me that Amazon and Gamefly are due for a meeting....and Amazon will buy them out....or just run them into the ground.

Does Amazon offer a subscription based game rental service?

If they are having tournaments by where you live its well worth the drive.
