Forums - General - Ideal job

Let's have ourselves a session of make believe. What would be your ideal job and what would your ideal wages be (Of course everyone may say billion but I'm more interested on what salary you would be 'comfortable' with).

I'll start- I would love to work on story development for video games(kind of in the screen writer vein). I think in the Area where I live I could comfortably live off of 85k a year but in this stage of my life 45 would be acceptable because I'm only 23.

I am going to become an MD. I am not exactly sure what type yet. But I know the average MD in America makes 200k a year. Where I live its more like 300k a year. That job would be/is the perfect job for me. I would get to help people and live a life completely different then that in which i grew up.

Gynecologist to the (attractive) stars lol.

No, but seriously I don't know yet. I am going to do a PhD if I can keep my grades up. But a PhD is the kind of thing where you pick a broad field, but the PhD kind of decides what you are specifically going to do. but something to do with television technology would be nice, but I'm also good at business and economics so maybe I'll do a masters in economics and combine the two for the PhD I think.

PhD usually = academia. Hopefully funding improves because I noticed that certain areas (humanities primarily) are reducing job numbers.

Prime Minister of the UK for obvious reasons, and id like a salary of 50k+

I assure you, I am quite the academic in real life.

I meant that most jobs for people with PhD's tend to be in Academia. Elsewhere, it seems one becomes overqualified.

I want to write music for a living, and as long as I make enough to live off of, I'll be happy.

My ideal job would be to be lead game designer for a series of RPG's (would probably be more of a mix of WRPG and JRPG) I've been working on for nearly the last 15 years (started as a book then D&D campaigns, and still working on my game design documents).

I really don't care about pay, you really don't get into making games for the money, especially going in for art or design.  Even if you're going to programming you could still get better pay for less work elsewhere.

Luckily I'm already working something close to my dreamjob on a dream IP.

Owning my own store and making just enough to have my own place and make all my payments and get the few things I want. Which wouldn't take more than 30k a year.
