My vote would go to the film Millennium Actress. It's epic, it's romantic and it doesn't have any of the annoying whiny or geeky anime type crap that turns most people off.

Full Metal Panic was easily better than The Second Raid. The desert plot arc alone was better than that entire second series though seeing Kaname take charge in that one episode was excellent.
Fumoffu is epic for comedy though I wouldn't recommend it without watching the original first.

Props for recommending one of my favorite anime movies. But considering that the person in question is a "she" and new to the medium, Millennium Actress might not be the best choice. Tokyo Godfathers might be a better choice.
OT: why not try Honey and Clover? Girls mostly love the "slice of life" genre, and since Maison Ikkoku(anime) hasnt really stood the test of time, thats the best show to go with. My second recommendation would be Ah!My Goddess. FMA is a brilliant show, but later on, it becomes quite intense, so id advise against going with it

Lol reading this thread reminds me of how much I've watched. I've seen literally everything you guys have suggested. Im showing her full metal alchemist now and shes hooked! I think Cowboy bebop will be next. Maybe Haruhi?

I would push her onto Haruhi. If she likes Haruhi I would say get her to either Toradora and/or Special A easily my 2nd and 3rd favorite animes...Also there are going to be new FMA ep's that will be airing in early April...

I'm sort of a Anime begginer myself. Never watched a lot of it, but what I did watch I enjoyed very much.
Yu Yu Hakusho's ending still makes me cry.
