Forums - Microsoft - My Elite and E 74

The other day I had a huge graphical glitch when statring Horde mode on Gears 2 and was forced to restart the console.  I checked the HDMI cable but nothing was loose etc.

Then today whilst playing the Riddick demo the exact same glitch, restart and RROD E 74.

Restarted and everything would load up fine, start playing and then the glitch.

Phoned customer support and after removing the hard drive restarting the colsole we manged to get permanent RROD!

Good news is that I'm still in warranty, expires 20th March!!  So now im waiting for UPS to pick it up.

 

I would assume they will repair it not replace it with a new unit, but what are peoples experience of this?

Have reapirs been succesful in eliminating this and other problems?

I assume they must guarantee any work they do and extend the warranty accordingly!

I cannot find my original receipt to prove purchase date but the guy I spoke to on the phone quoted me the expiry date of 20th March which is about right (for one year warranty).

I have no official documentation stating 3 year warranty just the 1 year!

But if I have any further problems I will be sure to kick up a fuss!



Your one year warrenty would cover the E74, so you had nothing to worry about really.

The RROD would've been handy if you were over the one year, in which case the extended warrenty would come into play. But that 3 years only covers RROD, not E74.

You should get another years warrenty with your "new" box. Dunno if it'll be new or refurbed though.



My Elite came in two days ago: it's the exact same casing and the same serial number but the console ID changed. I'm suspecting they swapped the mother board in my unit.

UPS turned up today to collect my XBOX! After phoning up microsoft yesterday, that's a pretty fast service so far!!

Driver says he has loads of XBOX pickups! Hope fully I will get it back next week!
