It's not that uncommon to see pedestrians sporting those in Japan, supposedly to reduce the effect of pollution on them..



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

They might be undergoing Chemo, or taking some sort of immuno-suppresant drugs. Perhaps they are just out to get some nice entertainment before heading home to rest, relax, and kill 'sorta' zombies.

 

EDIT: Or I guess there are other answers related to Japan, I am just accustom to living near a major cancer center where it is not uncommon to see people wearing masks.
