Forums - General - Morality of Killing Animals

the morality is that your front teeth are made to cut flesh and your pointy teeth are made to rip it. The back teeth are made to chew.

Why would you forgo what you were created to do? eat meat.

That was for people who believe in creation.... if you believe in evolution : survival of the fittest is the answer to why it is ok to kill other spiecies. Heck you could even eat other humans... this has been done in many cultures (though there are medical reasons why you should not do that...).

My opinion is that it's more ethical to eat an animal (any kind) than kill an animal indirectly for the sake of progress in an industrialized society.

Personally though, I don't care. I don't kill any insects/arachnids unless I'm drunk and not paying attention and step on something (or even remove them from my house) but I eat meat so I dunno whats wrong with me.

I just find human's ability(or tendency) to make a hierarchal structure of the value of life, of organisms to be fascinating.

Pictures and threads like this make me want some Veal Parmesan.  I have no problem killing animals if they are tasty.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

we humans consider ourselves the rulers of the planet, thats why our animal slaughters are justified, i hope one day a human predator comes and fuck us over so we can understand what we are doing is wrong

I'm a vegan because I don't need animal products. Its not moral if you don't need it. I live in a country where there are simple alternatives to everything, thus I don't need it. It would be different if I lived in a third world country.

I respect your desion to be a vegan, as it is a healthy diet and shows respect to nature, but your argument "its not moral if you don't need it" makes no sense.

Do you drink alchol or play video games? You don't need either of these things, but you probably don't view them as immoral, even though they fall under your definition of immoral.

Cows are the most wasteful of all the animals we eat. And red meat is the most unhealthy of all the meats we eat (well, except for some types of pork). So do yourself and the environment a favor and cut back on or stop eating red meat.

What if we have terrible food allergie3s and meat is one of the few things we can eat?

by the tenants of my faith which are the base for my morals i have been put on this earth in the top tier of the animal kingdom and given sway over the flora and fauna of this world (by me i mean mankind)

there for i deem it an immoral act to do anything less

however just b/c I have that standing does not mean I need to abuse that spot, I am a firm believer that (if not always practitioner) we should only take what we need and not always what we want

Actually there is a fairly good arguement that god would perfer it that people be vegetarians.

Lots of early Christian sects were vegetarian by law actually.

There is some evidence that Peter and Matthew were vegetarians.

Even some that jesus himself was.

The most notable one being...

And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food".

I didn't bother to check, but wans't that passage in genesis, before people had any considerable level of knoeldge? Once it became tough to be human, I thought it was acceptable for people to eat animals. The lion and the lamb got along in Eden ect, so people and animals started eating each other after the fall. Also, Jesus gives people fish to eat, which certainly is not a plant.

Ok, if there is a starving lion or tiger or whetever and I happen to be wround I HIGHLY doubt he won't tear me apart on the spot. In the same way I don't think twice about killing other animals and eating them. In fact my canines are quite needle sharp, meant for tearing meat apart.

you know that whole I can eat meat thus I must eat meat argument makes people look like pigs. The best argument for eating meat is "I like it too much to give it up." Simple enough. I'm pretty sure 2/3 of the US population is overweight or obese. I don't think anyone here is starving to death.

Why should I think twice about eating another animal when other animals wont think twice about eating me?
