Forums - Nintendo - Booo for nintendo and the classic controller

I just love some of these comments... First everyone jumps on Nintendo for releasing a 'upgraded' classic controller thats not really that much of a upgrade in and of itself, tearing them to pieces over it...

Now people are doing the same thing because Nintendo says there are 'no plans' to release this 'upgrade' in the NA region, it just boggles the mind

look how long it took for us to get 'Club Nintendo'
We still dont have the Japanese Club Nintendo SNES classic controller that Japan got over a year ago (which I really want, but not willing to shell out 70-90 to import)

Sure, I can understand the frustration about some of the 'games' situation, which is a disappointment, but jeez people, calm down

if we show enough support, it might come here.

Booooooooooooo for NOA!

Awesome trailer for the new Ganbare Goemon game, to be released in March, 2009 for... Well, it's a Pachinko machine with a display. Oh, God.

*NEW SUPER MARIO BROS WII*:  Now it's gonna happen!!! Thank you so much Nintendo.

lol, You gotta love it when you get sued and the drawing in the patent are actually drawings of your own controllers (they had a SNES and N64 controller).

Anyways, that is a very good point, as until this is settled it may come across bad for them to the jury if they were to bring this out while in the middle of the suit.

Could you please tell me more?

I don't have a link to the patents (or the article with the patents linked to it) so I can't really help you. But in every patent you have drawings, and in theirs they had images of the controllers they were describing. The images they used were SNES and N64 controllers. With the same exact button placement and everything.

Anyways, just google the Nintendo Anascape lawsuit and you'll probably find it, then you'll have to digg through the 10 or so patents to find the images. I actually think I posted one of the images on this website

EDIT: actually it was incredibly easy to find the post and thread where this suit was discussed.

My 2 classic controllers are fine enough for me and my VC gaming.

NoA is really behind the casual market. They don't think classic genres, like RPGs, appeal to Americans. We (meaning Americans) will be lucky to see alot of the great JRPGs coming to the Japanese and EU Wiis at all, I think. NoA just won't bite on many of them, unless their title starts with "Final" and "Fantasy".

Datz controller looks to complimicated. We Americans can only handle the waggle. Thank Yooz Nintendoh for saving us from such complicashun.

*face palm*

NoA has nothing to do with which RPGs come to America, 3rd parties do. In fact, NoA has brought more hardcore SRPGs over than any other company (yes, fire emblem destroys them all). So far NoA has failed to bring over Disaster: Day of Crisis, Professor Layton (2 & 3, which is my biggest complaint), Captain Rainbow, and other 1st party software.

Not that it really matters, how many games outside of the VC even use the classic controller?

Still, I must say, I'm getting tired of Nintendo treating North America like a second class citizen when it comes to gaming support. North America sells more hardware and software then Japan and yet they still release everything in Japan first and tonnes of stuff never even comes over here.....grumblegrumble

/endrant

Brawl
Kart
Fire Emblem

And that's just from my collection, I'm sure there're plenty

How about Disaster?  A game with American-style gameplay, about an American, set in America, yet it doesn't release in America.

Seriously--Nintendo of Japan is the best company in gaming.  Nintendo of America sucks.

I can tell you guys have no experience with NOE.

Seriously Nintendo has only really started to exist here properly this generation.... they didn't really try for NES/SNES days, and were thwarted by Sony's far better reach (bigger company has affiliates [is that the right word?] in small countries Nintendo couldn't dream of)

I can think of 3 Nintendo published Wii games Europe has been given significantly before America, Endless Ocean, Disaster and Mario Strikers. And only Mario Strikers was also released before it was in Japan.
