Damn Halo Wars is good. I have to share this with you guys.

I was palying a 1v1 standard game.

Began as I always do, quickly got 2 bases up. Built fairly modestly between units and research. However the other guy built a rapid army up, consisiting of quite a few scorpians. We fought at my 2nd base, both our armies were fairly screwed after that, but he had 4 scorpian tanks left.

I had lost some buildings so I decided to play a mind game and lure him into a false sense of security. I self destructed what was left of my 2nd base. Immediately at my other base I trained 3 spartan units knowing he would attempt to finish me off with his 4 scorpians. When he came over with them I got my 3 spartans to take 3 of his scorpians, whilst building some warthogs (which had Gaus cannons on them) and immediately took the scorpians and what army I had to get my base back within minutes. I knew his army was next to nothing due to the previous battle.

From there I held him off, he made another massive attack which ended in my bases remaining. I decided to quickly build units which didnt take long, (warthogs, spartans, hornets.) Immediately attacked him took 1 of his bases and the rest is history. From a position where I really should have lost, I won.

Thats why this game is such a good RTS. Strategy is so key.

That is the best online feeling I have ever had. I beat him with my mind instead of reaction.

Man that was satisfying.

yeah halo wars is great now if only i was great at it

Well, as long as this thread is related to Halo Wars, I'll pose a question. Is the game better or more fulfilling than the demo? I liked parts of the demo, but I felt myself constantly wishing that I had mouse controls (don't get mad at me!). Would I like the game more? I'm a big fan of RTS games.

 Just practice dude. Try not think about how you played other strategy titles. Once you realise that actual tactics work better than brute force, you'll get there.

It is so good with the d-pad jumping around the map. I seriously believe I could own a mouse/keyboard setup with the controller on Halo Wars. Ive never been as quick at going round the map as in Halo Wars, Pure genius.

 Ive owned it 5 days now. Genuinely I am faster with Halo Wars controls than any RTS Ive evr played on PC. Seamlessly jumping between 3 or 4 bases with 1 touch. Same with armies. Why oh why has this not been done before.

Rent it and play online first if you need confirmation of what I'm saying. But it is very good online. Single player is good to. Play on Legendary from the start and you will have a very good challenge.

Saturday night im going over to a friends house so i can play some co-op :)

It has, you can map what armies go to what F keys in many RTS games :P

Hmm I may rent this to play on my friends 360, last RTS I greatly enjoed was Starcraft. . .

If the Legendary campaign for Halo Wars is anything like the one for the main Halo games, I'll pass. I guess I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to the Halo series . I think I'll end up buying it somewhere down the line, probably during the summer dry period.

LOL. I meant on console controls. Even so. I remember having to look at the keyboard to make sure I was on the right keys. With a controller it becomes natural feel. It's strange. Definately play it, at length if you can to understand what I mean. :)
