What the fuck was it supposed to sell to reach the 'hype'?  Please tell me this.  You always throw hype in the collective face of the PS3 fan-base, but can never give me a number.  What number do you associate with hype?  Should it have sold 1 million?  5?  20?  Please tell me this.  I seem to think doing better than CoD: WaW is pretty awesome for a game coming off of the heels of a horrible prequel.  But that's just me.

Why are you so upset DMJ? Surely  you knew that kz2 sales were destined to be looked down on. Even if it broke wii sports sales record on day 1, it still won't be enough. It's no use getting worked up over it.

Not upset, I just like to rib starcraft when he uses his schtick of sales vs hype all the time.  I really don't care, KZ2 is a fuck-awesome game, and that's what's important.

I would agree but we are on a sales site, sales of a game are more important here than the quality of it.  If you can't stand that you should go to the other 1.000 of forums where sales are not that important.

Gears of War 1 did 270,000 week 1 in EU, and 910,000 WW week 1.

I just need to say that the hype a game receives on an internet forum such as VGchartz is not indicative of the general hype of the game.

I would argue that the broad awareness and hype machine for Halo Wars is bigger than that of Killzone 2.

Congrats to the PS3 squeaking past the 360 in others even though its more or less a tie. It is quite the achievement considering Halo Wars is out and especially since the PS3 hasn't had a price drop in forever.

I can't believe all of the hate in this topic (actually I can), seriously. Killzone 2 did amazing for where Guerilla Games came from.

They came from 2 games that were praised as shoddy and not worth your time.

GG has learned a lot and are only learning more as time goes on.

KZ2 is an amazing game all around and the sales it is getting are well deserved and definitely good.



  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

PS3 beat 360 by less than 300! not exactly groundbreaking HW, but excellent SW sales for KZ2 and decent start for Halo Wars

Yea, I would say it isn't so spectacular, but it is a good gain for the PS3. Although I think it coulda had better sales if released in the holiday season (compare to dismissal R2 sales), KZ2 could of have done fairly better. But its the kind of boost the ps3 needs now to stay intact with the 360 but with RE5 right around the corner, dunno if the boost can hold up foor KZ2 neways, but the ps3 hardware should improve.

Wii: 65 mil (yea I'm crazy) 360: 35 mil (its getting there) PS3: 30 mil (the slim better do well)

End of 2010 Predictions (made Jan 7, 2010):

Wii: 81 mil  360: 47 mil PS3: 45 mil
