No. As others have said, pirating games is not the best way to go about insuring future titles.
Edit: Just about everyone downloads stuff. As much as I hate to admit it, I've dled much, much more than my fair share of music. I've cut way back, and buy virtually everything now. However, people who say dling software, music, applications, whatever is NOT stealing are clearly confused or something.
Copying a game or music tracks for yourself is the same thing as walking into a retail store and pocketing CDs. One can argue that it's not as serious for various reasons, but it doesen't change the fact that you own something that does not belong to you because you did not pay for it.
Person 1: Does Valkyria Chronicles have trophies?
Person 2: No.
Person 1: Forget it. I'm not buying it.
Person 2: Wait! It's amazing! Unique, charming, drop dead gorgeous... Hello?
no, someone did it for me. j/k I bought an used Playstation that was modchipped, never bought a single original game for it. and I have an R4. anyway, my Nintendo's are all virgin, no sign of piracy nearby, except for some alternative SNES cartridges that I didn't buy, but ended with me. there's even one Top Gear 3000 hack that turns it into a Brazilian stock car championship haha

How is owning a copied game, you didnt pay for, not stealing? You own something you dont have the rights to, that equals stealing. |
I bet you more than likely torrent download music CDs or a DVD. Well do not act so hypocritical. People who physically steal a video game from the store are more than likely going to get caught due to CCTV and those detectors. Software pirates who download over the internet have no chance of getting caught. Noone really cares if you download some software. You would only get caught if you sold pirated games or software in a huge commercial enterprise.
@numonex
Actually, I never downloaded music or movies, I only did the video games cause I had a PC with a burner and a sister who worked at blockbuster. And how was I being hypocritical? I already admitted to copying games.
Selling copied material is another crime in itself, has nothing to do with how you got it. If you stole/pirated the material, that too is a crime. People were getting sued left and right when the RIAA tried to start cracking down on all of the music piracy. Just because you dont get caught doent mean its not illegal. It must be nice to be as naive as you are.
never did a chip but i had a boot dics for my ps1 whcih involved placing a toothpick in the open cover so it would think its closed and you could still switch discs
