Forums - Sony - Killzone 2 future balance adjustment suggestions. Nerfs? Buffs?

Good multiplayer games, or should I say multiplayer games that have teams behind them that actually care almost always go through balance adjustments. Certain weapons/characters/techniques are found to be either too powerful or completely worthless and in time get nerfed or buffed accordingly.

Killzone 2 being the new kid on the block and Sony's hopeful big online multiplayer game, it will no doubt go through some adjustments. GG has even been talking about how they are keeping an eye on it and on their message boards to see what needs to be done to be improved. So in your opinion what could use some tweaks to the balance?

Personally, the assault class needs a MAJOR nerf. They are ridiculously cheap and I knew they would be before the game even released. Just watching the gametrailers "badges" feature where they detailed each class I could smell that this one would be a problem and it doesn't disappoint. What you have in the assault class in a class that has more armor, is faster than everyone else, and a has a grenade launcher. How could this not be a disaster? They are the ultimate spawn campers in that they can just charge into a base and spray grenades like crazy and rack up the kills. They can take two shotgun blasts at point blank range and still survive sometimes. Nigh unstoppable, super speedy, and with an uber powerful weapon, somethings got to give.

Also engineer turrets need a definite buff. They are useless. They do little damage, have poor accuracy, poor reaction time and are easy to destroy. one clip from the standard assault rifle can destroy them, and there is a good chance that you can destroy it before it destroys you without you even needing to hide or regenerate. At best they can be used as a motion detector to let you know somebody is coming down a hallway or through a door.

So what about you guys. What do you think needs nerfs or buffs?

I kept hearing that the turrets are useless, but I personally think they're fine. They serve as good distractions and can put out some great supression if left alone.

As for the Assault class, I don't get how they managed to get a speed boost at all.  That seems much more fitting for a Saboteur - go in with disguise, then run your ass out once your cover's been blown. And seeing that Assault is all about exlosives, the C4's seem to fit. And yeah, the armor is abit too tough.

I heard that shotgun, was overpowered, is that true. I'm only a corporal, so i don't have any classes to choose from.

I don't think the shotty is overpowered, but then again I don't use it much myself. It's strong, but it's got such a huge cooldown time if you miss with your first shot you probably won't get a second. Up close it's 1 hit kill with a direct hit, from short-medium range it will be more like 2 possibly 3. But like I said, very long cooldown time so you'd better hit with it.

Have you tried holding L1 when using it?

I think the shotgun is fine. I can kill people well enough even if they have it.

1. The rank system is rather short ( already at Major, played for 8 hours )
2. The turrents and airsupport dosent help out much
3. Not all of the weapons on the campaign are in the multiplayer

But besides that the game runs quite well

I thought that just brought up a flashlight. Does it do something else?

Well, I think they overcompensated the turrets were overpowered in the  beta.
