Hi all:

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li bombed this week coming in at number 8 on the box office charts making only 4.65 million. So I guess this proves again that a video game name is just not enough to put people in the seats (even if the movie isn't directed by Uwe Boll).

 

Any thoughts on video games made into movies? Any you think were done right or could be done right?

It looked horrible, even the Dragonball movies looks more entertaining and that's saying a LOT.

SHOCKING!!! but really making a movie about chun li come that has crap written all over it.. it should have been about ryu and ken
having chun li is like having rose as the main character in a sonic movie

Only RE has succeeded movie-wise that I can think of. I think the latest one flopped too. Capcom is overdoing it nowadays. They release the sames games over and over (nothing wrong with that for a vg co.) but then they decide to release credit cards and movies again? lol.

They're saving that for their last attempt at making a SF movie whenever SFV comes out. Honestly The only Street Fighter Movie that was even good was Street Fighter II Movie which featured Violent Ken. The rest fail! Even the new one It was kind of cheesy with Lip Synching very off! I mean come on Capcom we're in an age where it should be mandatory to have proper lip synching in an Anime especially when its to commemorate the release  of the most beloved fighting franchises of all time!

Capcom doesn't really have anything to do with the movies..I think they give it a green light, but afterward, I think the company that makes the movies (Screen Gem, owned by Sony Pictures) has more to do with the movies.

The resident evil movies are the 4th (Apocalypse), 5th (Extinction) and 7th (RE) highest grossing zombie movies.

Resident Evil - $40 mil (US), $102 million (WW)

Resident Evil: Apocalypse - $51 million (US), $129 million (WW)

Resident Evil: Extinction - $50 million (US), $147 million (WW)

Sorry, most of this is agreeing with you and praising the Resident Evil movies for actually being decent movies. :)

 

Thanks for clarifying. The RE movie I was talking about is Degeneration. I think capcom made that one but I'm not sure.
