Forums - Sony - Zoellner's take on Killzone Two

"Hummm" is what some non-owners of the KZ2 game might be saying to one's self.  Debating inside a Gamstop wether or not it is worth shelling out $60 for.  Even some ppl would have to be looking at shelling out an addition $300-400 just for the game system.

As you stand there pondering you apprehend the conversation of two guys behind the counter talking about fragging one another.  Passing prejudgement you know they are talking about Halo.  With a sigh you grab a copy and head your way to the counter.  At the counter with a surprise on your face you realize they are talking about fragging some random dude in KZ2.  You skip out the store in excitement to go home and totally declare war!

You might have been in that stance as one of my of close friends was.  To be honest with you Killzone two does set a new breed of life on the Playstation.  This game is not the Halo killer it was set out to be.  But it did give the PS3 its own shooter.  A shooter that is worth the buy and an experience you wont get any where else.

Running and gunning looking for cover.... A loud explosion and some random guys screaming F#ck because a grenade is about to explode by him.  The sky is flashing with lighting and rockets are flying.  Bullets are pinging chips of concrete all around you and helmets are hitting the floor faster then Jenna Jamison's panties in a porno.  Hiding behind a piece of scrap metal you look through a hole down the massive battle field to realize that you are pretty screwed.  This feeling is quickly dissolved by going back the the main menu and taking it off the most difficult setting. Very rare in a first person shooter have I had to do this.

I will make this very clear, if you want to be in a war game this is it.  War is all around you. I am just glad they didn't figure out a way to add the smell of death to the game. The single player game is amazing.  The multiplayer is going to rob you of any free time.

There is two different multiplayer modes.  this a local one where you can take on "bots" and of course the online action.  Both worthy and have their on unique taste of difficulties and adventure.  I cannot describe the amount of action and thrill for multiplayer with out writing a book. You will have just to go get a copy yourself or play with friends.  What I wanted to say about the multiplayer is that it may lack vehicles but it still puts halo to shame.  Yes I said it.  ...I know there is going to be boos about this from the peanut gallery.... It makes unrealistic kills well... unrealistic.  you cannot kill a dude with one shot from a pistol to the head from 100 yards away.  You can setup squads to be able to talk to only those who you want to.  Which was a great key feature to cut down on the chatter.  You are also not going to  find yourself in a funnel of repeated death.  Getting your ass kicked and need practice?  Make your way over to the bots play.  (This I have had to do because some people dont ever leave their tvs.)

Set the bots to what ever difficulty you want.  explore the levels. learn the game mode. then go back and terrorize ppl.

Beat anything in graphics on systems: yes and no...  Just depends what style you like.  for example I think unreal is plastic but I think it is still amazing.

Great story: yes

great online play: most deff yes.

is it a halo killer: not yet.. Halo was not truly Halo until number two came out. Halo was fun and simple thats why ppl liked it. Halo two made it possible to destroy ppl online.  3 let ppl made the experience happen.  When KZ game can accomplish these goals and keep raising the bar it will be the Halo Killer".

Should you get your ass off the internet and get it? yes

will it cause ppl to buy PS3? maybe.... Just depends... I lost my crystal ball and cant see into the future anymore. If I still had my crystal ball I would of won the lottery by now and wouldn't be on here... just kidding I love vgchartz.

cheers, xoxo

Around the Network

I don't think it was intended to be a "Halo Killer." But yes, it is well worth $60.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.
