Forums - PC Discussion - The Last Remnant PC demo impressions

Yes, I know there is another thread associated with The Last Remnant demo for PC but I just wanted impressions from people who have played the game.

Personally, I am quite impressed with what I played of the demo.  If the technical issues in the 360 version were really as bad as some said it was, then people will be happy to know that technical issues are almost completely gone for me.  I say almost because they are still there.  When I enter new areas, the framerate drops quite a bit and some textures due take a second or two to load but overall, it hasn't bothered me much.

I also have to give credit to Square-Enix for including new feature not seen in the 360 version.  For example, the autosave feature after every battle and the turbo mode.  The turbo mode is so fast that sometimes I can't tell what's going on.  On the other hand, it cuts down the time you spend in a battle quite a lot.  Also, if you played the 360 version and didn't like the English VA(which IMO is passable at least for the most part from what I heard of it), then you will be happy to know that you can switch to the original Japanese VA.

Also, I have enjoyed the battle system also.  I really like the smart design decisions such as only having to buy Rush's equipment and using a point and click map.  I think I just barely scratched the surface of the battle system in terms of complexity and strategic options.

Overall, the demo has done what video game demos should do, encourage you to buy the full product.  I liked what I played and definitely want to buy the PC version of the game at some point if not when it first comes out.

Around the Network

I played it a bit. Works like a charm on my PC.

Damn, I really wish more jRPGs could come to PC after seeing this. I'm not sure I would need consoles ever again.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

I've enjoyed the demo. The game seems quiet solid and unique to me. I'll buy it once I am done with Empire:TW.

Impressions of the Japanese voice over?
