You don't lose VC or WW games. They're linked to your Nintendo account so you can redownload them whenever you need to.

You need to call Nintendo customer support. i think it costs money though.

even if the console itself is screwed, and they have to give you another, you will STILL have any vc and wiiware games available on the new one if you tell them that you bought some, and you will PROBABLY even still have your save files transferred to the new wii, unless it's the flash memory that's screwed and they can't even read it (doesn't really sound like thats the problem with yours though, so yay :D)

I lost my saves when my Wii died while I was playing MP3 too. (Over a year ago though.) Ended up getting a replacement from Nintendo (they couldn't fix). They transferred all of my VC to the new one but couldn't rescue my saves. At least there wasn't too many games at the time to lose saves from and I didn't mind replaying MP3.

Call Nintendo, don't just buy a new one (especially since you'd also need a new MP3).

Nintendo is usually pretty good about fast repair service.. hopefully you've had your wii less than a year so it would still be under warranty...

You should get a SD card to back up your Virtual Console and WiiWare games.
