Not as something to bag out kn at all, but this is exactly the kind of reason that Halo 3 will maybe reach 10 million copies sold, while Metroid 3 will probably only just reach 2 - 3 million at best.

THIS is the exact reason. Too many people who don't care about metroid feel this way about the game.

I didn't make the comparison but my friend who was watching me play the first level kept saying 'this is exactly how halo starts' about every 10 minutes.

I've only beaten the first level so far but it's great. The meta riley fight was awesome.
