Forums - Nintendo - What went wrong with Deadly Creatures

I have this game too and, yes it is quite good. Also a shame it hasn't sold well. I think its major drawback is the same thing that makes it appealing. It's just so different. I think this sort of innovation is just what gaming needs IMO. Much better than any of the slew of minigame collections taking up Wii shelf space.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

Bought it a few days ago, and enjoying thoroughly.

But I'm pretty sure the problem is that it isn't very clear what sort of game it is.

Most games, you can look at the box and get some idea what's inside: big muscly guy with guns means it has got shooting in it; ninjas do ninjaey things; shiny cars means some racing; ugly guys in a city means GTA and a little guy with a sword means adventuring.

This has a picture of a snake and a spider.

But no indication of what you do with them.

Read the back it says you 'play as' a spider and a scorpion. Yeah, but play *what* as them?

I didn't expect a combo beat-em-up (usually steer clear, but having a whale of a time here), I didn't expect the relative linearity of the chapters - thought there would be more open exploring. Didn't expect the story, or the parallel plotting.

Got it on whim - and how many people are going to do that?

It'll sell, if at all, on slow word of mouth. And - a few irritating bugs aside - it'll get some from me.

yes i feel it will do ok on word of mouth. It will get positive word of mouth from me too.

I played it. I really liked it, but I won't buy it because I beat it in one night and took it back to the video store. It was an awesome game, but way to short and not enough incentive for me to replay it again.

See, its a good game, but definately not a game id recommend in this economy, not unless your pretty well off, in that case, go buy it!

A lot of things went wrong with that game! No multiplayer. Although it was not a multiplayer type game, they should have implemented it. Somehow online connectivity

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
