It's a good game, actually a very good game with a few major exceptions. The first being that the game is a little to hard. I started it out on the easiest setting and that should mean even a new comer should be able to win nearly all the time against the computer. I grew up playing SF2 on the SNES and also played it recently via Wii VC and I also downloaded the HD version on the 360. So I'm not really that rusty by any means. I've tried playing it on medium difficulty a few times and didn't do so well. Some of the characters don't seem very balanced at all. I had no problem beating Ryu, Chun-Li and some others but C.Viper and Zangief pissed me to almost no end. And Seth is ridiculous. After three or four continues, I beat him. Can someone tell me why the boss of SF4 looks like Silver Surfer?
I would've been just fine if they stuck with M.Bison as the main boss rather than just a supporting character, actually I would've preferred it. I do love the graphic style of the game but wish they had kept some of the old stages as well. The music is alright but prefer the old classic music. Also, what's the deal with the boy band song during the credits and elsewhere in the game? While I like this game and will always love the SF controls and moves, I prefer the older style of gameplay, music and some other details. I guess part of it is having played the old style for so long that a big part of me misses the nostalgia.
In the end, I would've been fine with all the new if the game wasn't so hard and really, I'd call it cheap mostly in certain ways. Right now, I'd give it a 7/10 which is far below what I thought of earlier games. Sadly, I could see myself selling this game after playing it a while which is something I would never do with the older games in the series.
I'll come up with something better eventually...
