The exchange rate for Yen per Dollar has gone from around 90 at the end of December to around 97 Yen per Dollar currently, and has weakened drastically against the Dollar in the past couple of weeks alone.

If this trend continues though March, The Yen might even be at a level of around 100 Yen per dollar by Fin year end.

We all know what a beating companies like Sony took in the last quarter due to the stronger Yen, so could things possibly be slightly rosier by the time the next Fin reports come out? Do you think the Yen will continue weakening?

I know Sony is/was not the only Japanese company to be hit hard recently, but Sony is currently closest to my heart *sob*

Yes, the exchange rates are a big part of Sony's problems, and perhaps the biggest problem at the gaming division specifically. On that camp things seem to be getting better, although not good yet (USD and Euro are still much lower than they used to be).

However, I just read that Japanese exports were down 46% in January. If Sony's drop in exports is anything near that, that would be a far bigger problem than the Yen...

Well, Sony's game division might be breathing a little easier, at least the PS3 and the games for it are still in demand, but as a whole, Sony is looking screwed.
