Forums - Sales - Something weird with HotD: Overkill sales

Yeah it's had a decent push in Australia but charting at number 6 in Australia.. Might not even be that high in the grand scheme of things..

I think everybody that's worrying should really take a step back and remember that this is a Wii game. It'll have legs so come back in a month or two and watch the sales continue to truck along.

Yeah, but this is not about wanting the game to sell well. It's about having the correct numbers.

As it stands it seems bizarre, it did great in the UK and bombed everywhere else? How could something like that happen?

It's probably banned in Germany (I can't confirm this, I am just guessing based on many violent games being banned there, and RE4 seems to have been distributed in small numbers as if retailers own rules stop them selling it) It might have not even reached some regions. or might just not be popular in them.

True that. Madworld will be banned as well.

There we go.

The game is banned in Germany, knowing Australia it is probably late or limited shipments early on, Nintendo don't directly distribute to Scandanavia so perhaps it's late there too.

So we are left with the UK (where the game is probably relatively popular compared to other regions, as well as the huger userbase advantage) France, Spain, Italy and Benelux.

HotD: Overkill is a Sega game, Nintendo publish their own games in Scandinavia, however Sega games are published by Pan Vision. According to their website they released it February 13.

Bergsala being the official distributor there instead of Nintendo shouldn't really cause Nintendo products to be released later than in countries where NoE directly operate. NoE should treat it the same as any of their own regions with regards to release dates. Same goes for Sony and their Scandinavian distributor Nordisk Film, who unlike Bergsala are also the publisher in Scandinavia.

Thanks BKK.

I can confirm the game is available in Sweden. I went to three stores and I saw it at one. It's also available at cdon, an online store.

I also thought it was completely banned in Germany, however you can order the game from Amazon.de. The same goes for spielgrotte.de (but you have to verify your age for both pages).
So it isn't banned at all. I don't know if it is allowed to sell it in stores though.

Who the hell bans games with some zombie killing and the f-bomb? Man and I though us American lived in a nannystate- that is just insane.

I like Segas attitude.

"Germany don't like it? Stuff them then, they won't get it".

Beats Konamis attitude.

"Germany don't like it? Then let's edit and tone down the violence in all of europes versions!"

(that last comment ws directed a Silent Hill Homecoming, No More Heroes had all the blood removed also...)

In No More Heroes the blood was already removed for the Japan version.

Yeah, but the only reason it was removed here too was cos of germany.

I thought the BBFC had a part in it too.
