Forums - Gaming - Killzone 2 Is Here!

Actually as much as I refute Halo 3 having more internet hype than Killzone 2, Euphoria may have a point when it comes to GTAIV.

@Halo 3 can: Haha, that's perfect timing right there. Except, let's not confuse stupid marketing with hype, Hype didn't buy the production of those cans, wasted marketing budget did.

Picking up my copy of Killzone 2 tomorrow to see whether it's Killzowned 1 or Failzone 2.

Most hyped game go in this order:

1.)Brawl
2.)Wii fit - This game was hyped for different reasons, though.
3.)GTA 4
4.)Metal Gear Solid 4
5.)Little Big Planet

You do realise BBC is not allowed to advertise right?

Yes, I do; my brother-in-law is a reporter for them, so I know the corporation pretty well. If you read my post, I wasn't referring to advertising, I was referring to the news. BBC News ran a story regarding Halo 3 and the enormous amount of excitement and hype around the game at the point of its launch, and later they ran another story about the huge number of sales Halo 3 generated after its launch. And, to be clear, I'm not just talking about an online story; it was on the 6 o'clock news and repeated on News 24 for some time. So far, Killzone 2 is nowhere near that level of awareness in the public consciousness; I doubt the BBC will be running any prime-time stories about it (I could be wrong, however).

For a single, personal, anecdote (which, of course, means little): my Mum and Dad had heard of Halo 4 on the run up to its launch (they asked if I was getting it for my PS3). Neither have heard of Killzone 2, as of yet. Obviously, both are very aware of Wii Fit.

One killzone 2 thread opens and Starcraft can wait to troll. Can this guy get banned again soon please?

It had a article devoted to just GTAIV. It appeared more than once too.

Newsday even did a report on first day sales on GTAIV over both platforms.

GTAIV and Halo 3 are the only games I have ever seen given recognition like that in Newsday.

@starcraft: Of course Halo 3 was way more hyped than Killzone 2. It's just that the KZ2 hype is so fresh that it seems bigger now.

^^ This.

Saves me having to come up with my own reply to starcraft, as TruckOSaurus hits the nail on the head.

And yet it is simply not true.  Anyone trying to argue that the internet hype for Halo 3 is some quantum leap ahead of the internet hype for Killzone 2 is simply incorrect.

Personally, I think it's because the PS3 has so much more riding on Killzone 2 than the Xbox 360 had riding on Halo 3.

Are you serious Starcraft?

You keep going with this "KZ2 had more internet hype!"

Halo 3 had more hype in and outside of the internet. Internet =/= World. World = World, and that is where Halo 3 out-hyped Killzone 2 by a long shot.

You lose. Admit it. Be humble for a change.

Where on earth have I argued that Killzone 2 has more real world hype?  Quite the opposite.  I said Halo 3 had more and better advertising.

There is no quantitative way to prove which game had more internet hype.  But if you take a glance through the number of threads for Killzone 2 over the last 12 months (then think about the fact they have been going for nearly FOUR years), you'd be hard pressed to argue that ANY game has a substantially higher internet hype level this generation, letalone the enormous gap you seem to feel exists.

How on earth have I trolled?  The purpose of this thread was to torment Americans.  Surely it is open-ended enough to handle a discussion on Killzone 2's hype levels?

Look at the numerous papers that did articles on Halo 3.
