What would you expect from an American-made product, although it is kinda sad that all of these consoles are failing with that Ring of Death thingy just when Halo is right around the corner.

We may not make the best consoles, but we do at least have good dental care.

hmm im still on my first xbox (2005 one) no problems at all except freeze up once or twice on oblivion but thats the only game its done it too, i have left it on all night once, not on purpose, woke up and it was still not overheating

I dont know maybe i got one of the lucky fully functioning ones?

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

@ mrstickball

MikeB, why are you lying by saying that problems are "popping up all over various intenet forums" and only post problems from NeoGAF?

Quite simple, it's easier to quote 10 messages from 1 forum than having to navigate to 10 different forums to pick quotes. You can use google yourself.

Two other games which have crapped out a lot of XBox 360s are Gears of War (that was the case for me) and Forza Motorsport 2.

@ tk1797

One thing I have noticed with regard to many XBox 360 fans, they are almost always in denial. After doing
some research on the reasons why my XBox 360 crapped out, I told some XBox 360 fans the RRoD problem may be well beyond industry standatds and Microsoft was probably lying pretty badly. They got very angry, even calling me names, just because I pointed towards many threads and polls to justify my perspective. Now with Microsoft having acknowledged the problem to shareholders have they apologyzed? No, they are making up new excuses all of the time.

The reason why Bioshock, Gears of War and Forza Motorsport (maybe also Oblivion) have crapped out so
many consoles is being their use up a lot of GPU power thus the console gets hotter compared to if users
would play simple XBox Live games such as Pacman or Geometry Wars.

The failure rate of XBox 360 is not 100%.

Let's assume the rumoured failure rate of over 30% per year is correct, that would mean a minority of XBox 360 users owning their console for a year would have experienced a hardware failure, however after owning the console 2 years a majority of consoles would have suffered a hardware failure. Right now it's not possible that you own the console for over 2 years as the XBox 360 wasn't yet available.

However usually problems with electronics gets worse in course of time.

how was it not yet available? i got it 2005 christmas year, and yes i have had it Almost (does that make you happy?) two years. Im not a retard like half the people who have experienced the hardware failure, i know to give my xbox breaks, i know how to keep it cool, and thats all it takes for a majority because many are placing the blame on overheating.

NOt only are you bringing down the xbox down as far as you can take it, you take down the fans as well, because we are in "denial" Im not in denial of anything it has a very high malfunction rate, and at this point i could give a danm, im enjoying my xbox games more then any ps3 games that could possibly come out this holiday season and wii is the only one that can say they match or (possibly =P) beat the lineup.

If it malfunctions, o shit ill send it in for a few weeks and get it fixed

Im only pissed because you declared us fans in denial, but your right im still in denial that im in denial so what am i saying

For example the difference between Dec 2005 and January 2006 is 1 month, the difference of time between January 2006 and March 2006 is twice as much.

It's not yet christmas 2007, so that' the answer to your question.

Let's assume we have 100 consoles with a steady 30% failure rate that measns:

First year 100 - 30 = 70 unaffected users out of 100
Second year 70 - 21 = 49 unaffected users out of 100.

Im not a retard like half the people who have experienced the hardware failure,

Dude, I never had any consumer electronics device fail on me, except for the a walkman which I
dropped on the floor. My XBox 360 wasn't even placed in a media cabinet like my PS3 is, so there was
enough room for ventilation. The longest I had ever kept my XBox 360 on was for 1 night to download
some demos, I and many others very often keep our PS3s on for the night, for example to do some CPU intensive folding or a couple of days ago to I kept it on pause running Super Stardust HD, while heading off to bed (ranked just outside the top 100 right now, out of 62K+ highscores!).

First off, you think it the xbox was made christmas morning, then my parents bought it and gave it to me on the same day? it was most likely manufactured months before which makes it a GUESS 2 years old, i could have been manufactured at any time. Even if we go by christmas day, its almsot been two years 3-4 months really is not that long.

And yes i know that math is not hard to do, again i dont care, i just dont like how your putting down the fans. I enjoy my xbox big time, and i would not trade it for either of the two systems, sorry but i wont, dont care if it iwll eventually malfunction, thats why theres a warranty

The sad thing is you should have to "give it breaks" or "keep it cool" it's a game console, it's supposed to be idiot proof.  They are selling it to people who don't know the difference between HD and SD, it is Mass Market and it is their responsiblity to make a good product.  You don't give a damn until it dies.  I didn't.  The games are great though and I miss it. (Mine broke before the Warranty extensions, and I refused to pay to fix a 4-5 month old console.)

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Yes what im saying though, is probably a majority of failing is people are just idiots, i mean of course there are people who know more and know exactly what they are doing, yet still get it. But you seriously have to wonder if people really took care of their consoles how lower it would be for every console. Specially the 360. Just turn it off after 4-5 hours of gameplay, only for half hour at most and its set to go. Thats it.

And yes i agree they should of made a good product /sigh at microsoft. If they didnt have the good games id probably sell the 360 first moment i got

IMO pointless arguments. First of all it's not possible for you to own a XBox 360 for 2 years and I reffered to actual usage. I imagine if you keep your XBox 360 in the closet for 10 years it might well still function well.
