A bad thing? How? Some mythological notion that profit should be what you think is deserved? It doesn't work that way.
This isn't some AAA paradise where only what you all decide is the right amount of effort is rewarded.
And what do you think would happen if this game makes money? Capcom decides to halve the budget of MH3 and all original Wii games? They won't, because that's not how the game business works. What this would most likely lead to is Capcom maybe deciding to put more HD games on the Wii, since they make money. No, they will not look like this unless the scale is that large. They will have more room to allocate more detail, the same as every such video game ever made.
Sure those ports won't cost a lot, because you don't spend a lot on ports. The PS2 port of RE4 didn't cost a lot either. Just because it's not as easily noticable does not mean it's not the case.
Or are you all convinced this is a grab and run, when a direct port to the PS3 and PC would fit that better, and have hid the intentions better?
The game is just as likely a testing ground for more Wii support. If they can do a game of this scale, and it succeeds, they could do a hell of a lot more.
It's not certain that is their motive, but why do some of you not even see that as a possibility?
I want this game to succeed, in a way that shows Capcom they can stop holding out on the Wii. Then they can port RE5, which the Wii should have gotten from the beginning (not stolen, just gotten a version unfairly denied because developers refused to see the appeal of the Wii), and it will not look like DR CTYD unless it also has a hundred enemies at once. If it's more like RE4 in terms of scale, or larger, that game will look like RE4, because the resources wouldn't be eaten up by all those zombies.
Then if the above happens, maybe other developers will get it through their heads that games the HD systems are hogging can work on the Wii.
It's a hope, but just thinking Capcom will take the money and run if this is a hit, is to pretend they don't like money, when this year showed that focusing too much on HD development has cost them (they did state that they would have more profit if RE5 was out already).
