Forums - Microsoft - Halo Wars is looking good

The demo for it had a kind of Command & Conquer feel to it (at least to me) and I was impressed at the amount of detail they're putting into the game, it really does nail the Halo feeling. I also like the different ways units can be selected, etc, this game may set a new standard for strategy games on consoles.

Its made by Bungie, so of course the game will be good.
I laugh at people who say the xbox 360's 2008 lineup is crap. Its going to be quite good. If I have a 360 by the time Halo Wars comes out, I will probably get it.

Is the demo availible on xbox live?

Xbox Live Gamertag - Deathscythe X

Oops sorry when I said demo I meant video demonstration by one of the game's designers.

I saw this too, it definitely seemed to capture the spirit of Halo, hopefully it'll translate into a good RTS.

Another one that looks like it has potential is Tom Clancy's Endwar, it's supposed to have some really good voice commands to control anything in the game, if they nail that right, it could turn out better than mouse + keyboard for RTS, but that's a pretty big if.

Currently Playing:  Saints Row 2 | Battlefield 2 | Company of Heroes

Recently Beaten: Gears of War | Super Mario Galaxy | Darwinia | MGS4 | Sam and Max Ep. 4, Portal | Mirror's Edge | Uncharted | Mass Effect

Looking Forward to: Alan Wake | Splinter Cell : Conviction | The Last Guardian | Batman: Arkham Asylum | SMG2 | Mass Effect 2 |

They said the standard "When its done" for the release date...

But, I am wondering when they expect it to be done... It looks pretty far along right now. Spring time maybe?

Definately captures the halo aspect of it, the graphics are very well done, but other than that looks kind of generic for a RTS. The gameplay video doesn't show anything that would get me excited for it over Starcraft 2.

I don't think there really is a standard for RTS on consoles right now, honestly how many have there been? Controllers just don't work for them, Keyboard and mouse is the only way to play them.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Probably mid or late next year.

For console RTSes over history, you've had:

Zerzog Series (best RTS on console ever, Zerzog Zwei)
Command & Conquer Series (C&C1, C&C3)
LOTR: BFME2 (X360)
Universe @ War (X360)
Halo Wars (X360)
Kingdom Under Fire Series (Xbox)

Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

As a huge Myth fan, my heart fluttered when I heard Bungie was making Halo Wars. Then it sank a little when I found out it wasn't a Myth style RTT (real time tactics) game. To me, nothing has come close to Myth. I don't want to have to build new units all the time. I want to make due with the units I get.

I'm sure it'll still be an awesome game, I'm just sad that it won't be the game that I want.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
