Around the Network

Not to sound offended but that game while looking pretty impressive doesn't sound or look like the kind of game i have come to expect from Eidos. Now the game sounds amazing but a quick look at Eidos past I just don't see an RPG developer/publisher.

This is one of my problems with the support the Wii has been getting. It has either been cheaply developed games or experimental games , publishers investing as little as possible to see what works in the industry and what doesn't. Essentially Eidos and many other companies are using the Wii as a guinea pig testing new games for new markets before they give the 360/PS3 the perfected versions.

Infact recently when UbiSoft talked about how Wii games could be developed at such a small cost compared to 360/PS3 games they specifically mentioned that the Wii's profits were funding UbiSofts other projects. This seems to be the direction of the whole industry create cheap crap for the Wii to fund your real projects on the serious platforms.  That really pisses me off because the Wii has so much potential yet all of the publishers are using it to test out new casual genres and or going as cheap as possible to make up for the losses their taking on the opposing platforms.

In the end a little more then a year developement time doesn't have me impressed either. Sure some of the crappier Sonic titles were developed in a year (Sonic Heroes) but are we really striving to create a crappy game. The average good game takes at least two years to complete.

So while the game looks and sounds great I have absolutely no confidance in Eidos or faith in the companies motives. I am quick to question whether this game is seen as a legit product or is it just a test of the market or a way to make-up for the losses it has encurred on the other platforms.  I think I'll withold complete judgement but I'm betting my assumptions are right!
