Well, the reactions to the demo were overwhelmingly negative, so that must have played a major role.

Only to the Resident Evil hardcore fans... people that like action games are quite impressed with the title from what I saw.

I get the idea that everyone that even remotely touched Gears or Dead Space totally hated the controls and that the only people that actually like the inability to move+shoot are the die-hard RE fans, that want it to go back to its roots.

It's a lose-lose situation.

I was underwhelmed, but still liked it and will definitely get it day 1.

a lot of people are still hyped for it, while a lot of people including myself think itll be crap and a repeat of 4 because of capcoms dumb decisions

After playing demo, re5 1st resi evil i dont care about

i dont think that the hype is dead its just alot of other games are coming out the same time

The problem is that it has the exact same gameplay mechanic as RE4 , with the exception of the enemies who now have new abilities and are stronger. Thus the game is not as balanced as 4. IMO

well the reason is disappointment.. .to me it looks like re 4 1/2
but while re 4 while being obnoxiously cheesy ..did ok with its own part of the story ..whereas 5 looks like they are going to put all the things from the last 4 games together to create a game thats going to drive the whole franchise into the dirt

you know like the south park episode where chef dies .and since the voice actor quit.. they created his dialoge from bits from earlier episodes.. and thats kinda what the re 5 backstory looks like ..along with the gameplay from 4
